Wats in a Name !!

Coming to think of it does it really matter what you are called as ? You would be the same person, doing the same things, having the same level of successes. For the rest of my blog I am conciously going to keep out the topic of numerology and other "josiyams" because I simply do not believe in them.

So how much does our name really matter to the kind of person we end up as ? At the onset all of us get pretty good names which make a lot of sense and sometimes describe a worthy virtue. I have heard phrases like " Live upto your name " and maybe these names are given to us in the hope that we attain the particular character. However given the same atmosphere and the influences would we not shape up the same way as we would have if we had been christened with some other name.

But all said , there is this particular attachment to one's name like none other. It gives you sense of identity and nothing else will suit you as a name. The only negative being that if you have a name starting from 'A' you have to suffer throughout school and yours will be in the first few names to be called out , whatever the occasion be.

Speaking about names, I remember this character from the Faraway Tree series. He had forgotten his name and people ended up calling him Mr. Watzisname. I am particularly mentioning this because as a reader I got accustomed to the name so much that even though he had found out his real name, I remember only the old one.

In the end it all comes down to getting used to the name you are given. It does not make a difference what you are called so long as you like your name and feel happy to be called that way !!
